Hair Fall in Ayurveda
According to Ayurveda, main reasons for hair loss are an imbalance in Vata Dosha and any weakness in the bone tissue. An imbalanced Vata Dosha results in flaky dandruff and excessive dryness which makes hair brittle and causes hair loss. It also obstructs the flow of the essential nourishing nutrients needed by the hair cells which leads to dry scalp, split ends, and hair loss.
Bone also plays an important role in hair development. Healthy hair is a sign of healthy bones. Because in Ayurveda, the hair is a direct by-product of the bone tissue or bone marrow.
Hair problems are explained by an imbalance in Vata Dosha (causes dandruff and dryness), Pitta Dosha (causes hair thinning and premature greying) and Kapha Dosha (causes wet, sticky dandruff). It must be noted that nutrient deficit diet affects hair growth.
Vitamins and nutrients essential for hair growth are Vitamin A, Vitamin B (whole group), Vitamin C, Vitamin D, Vitamin E, Protein, Iron, Zinc and Potassium.
Apart from these, emotional behavior also governs hair loss. It is well-proven that emotional stress causes Vata Dosha and Pitta Dosha imbalances which results in hair fall or disturbed hair growth. Uncontrolled stress can result in Alopecia Areata (hair fall in clumps which result in baldness). With stress, the body’s immune system gets weak and affects the hair follicles which causes severe hair loss.
