Kadha for Corona – Ayurvedic Kadha Recipe to Boost Immunity

How to make Kadha for Corona at home? Here is the Ayurvedic Kadha recipe to boost immunity. The same is the Kadha recipe for corona by Ayush Mantralaya. In Ayurveda, Kadha gives strong immunity and helps the body to fight against various infections.

Ayurvedic Immunity Promoting Measures (By Ayush Mantralaya)

  1. Take Chyavanprash 10gm (1tsf) in the morning. Diabetics should take sugar free Chyavanprash.
  2. Drink herbal tea / decoction (Kadha) made from Tulsi (Basil), Dalchini (Cinnamon), Kalimirch (Black pepper), Shunthi (Dry Ginger) and Munakka (Raisin) -once or twice a day. Add jaggery (natural sugar) and / or fresh lemon juice to your taste, if needed.
  3. Golden Milk-Half tea spoon Haldi (turmeric) powder in 150 ml hot milk -once or twice a day
  4. Nasal application -Apply sesame oil / coconut oil or Ghee in both the nostrils (Pratimarsh Nasya) in morning and evening.
  5. Oil pulling therapy-Take 1 table spoon sesame or coconut oil in mouth. Do not drink,Swish in the mouth for 2 to 3 minutes and spit it off followed by warm water rinse. This can be done once or twice a day

Ayurvedic Kadha

Kadha is an Ayurvedic drink which is made of various herbs and spices (typically boiled in water, allowing all of the medicinal benefits to be extracted). Kadha increases the immunity and is especially helpful during the Vata Dosha.

Ingredients of Kadha

  1. Moti Elaichi
  2. Fresh Turmeric
  3. Cloves
  4. Black Peppers
  5. Tulsi
  6. Cinnamon
  7. Ginger
  8. Munakka
  9. Honey (can use Jaggery)

Health benefits of the ingredients

  1. Cinnamon: Loaded with anti-inflammatory properties and antioxidants, such as polyphenols (protect the body from oxidative damage by free radicals). Cinnamon has Cinnamaldehyde which fights against all kinds of infection. Cinnamaldehyde has antifungal and antibacterial properties, which can inhibit the growth of Listeria and Salmonella bacteria.
  2. Tulsi: Tulsi of Holy Indian Basil is rich in antioxidants. It if very effective againts free radical damage and it also protects DNA structures and cells. Basil contains water-soluble flavonoid antioxidants, orientin and viceninare. both of which strengthen the immune system and recontructs the damaged cellular and DNA structure. It also contains macronutrients, such as calcium and vitamin K and high concentration of eugenol and limonene. Both eugenol and limonene are the best antioxidants.
  3. Turmeric: Turmeric contains curcumin (curcuminoids), a compound which has immense healing properties and is a powerful anti-inflammatory substance. Turmeric also protects the body against various heart diseases and improves circulation of blood. It enhances the function of endothelium (the lining of your blood vessels) and thus acts as an immunomodulatory agent for body cells. Apart from these, Curcumin has several other health effects for arthritis, diabetes, kinds of allergies, respiratory ailments and Alzheimer’s disease.
  4. Ginger: Ginger can treat nausea, decrease inflammation and its antimicrobial properties can drastically boost the immune system. Ginger counters an upset stomach. Gingerol compound (responsible for its smell and flavor of ginger) has the most powerful health benefits. It is a powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory substance. Drinking ginger keeps the body warm and is effective against respiratory infections.
  5. Cloves: Cloves are rich in antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals. It contains eugenol (germicide), caryophyllene (antimicrobial) and can help reduce oxidative stress. It is found that eugenol can stop oxidative damage caused by free radicals five times more effectively than Vitamin E.

Cardamom helps relieve sour throat and Black Peppers help the body absorb turmeric.

Preparation method of Kadha

  1. Take the fresh turmeric and ginger, peel it off and crush both.
  2. Boil water and add turmeric and ginger (crushed).
  3. Add all other spices – Moti Elaichi, Cloves, Black Peppers, Tulsi, Cinnamon and Munakka.
  4. Boil it for 20-25 minutes.
  5. Add jaggery or honey (for sweetness).
  6. Keep it side to cool.

One can also store this Kadha for 2 days (maximum) in refrigerator. Don’t forget to warm it well before drinking.
